I know what ya sayin but with the way the birds of prey are starving im sure even they would have a good go at a pigeon mate

The Merlin (Falco columbarius) is a small species of falcon from the Northern Hemisphere. A bird of prey once known colloquially . as a pigeon hawk in North America,[1] the Merlin breeds in the northern Holarctic; some migrate to subtropical and northern areas.

I think its just a way of life now we either put up with it or pack in .I know a few that have packed in because of them .can we stop it? i very much doubt it now. To many BOP fanciers out there to see that they are becoming a pest not only to us but to the song bird population as well. http://www.derby.gov.uk/apps/peregrines/webcam2.asp click on the link and watch even during the night you will see how many birds a day these BOP eat and when there nesting every other bird they bring to the nest is a pigeon. I watched this all last year and counted 27 rings in the nest when rearing young.
